Heritage Open Day Events
We are pleased to once again participate in the Heritage Open Day Events which are held every Autumn conjunction with Manx National Heritage.
PLEASE NOTE: BOTH THESE EVENTS ARE LIMITED TO 20 PEOPLE SO BOOKING WITH MNH HERITAGE OPEN DAYS IS ESSENTIAL.
Sunday 3rd October 2021 – 10.30am: ‘A Walk Through Time Around Ramsey’
Brian Beattie, the MFCG President, will lead a walk exploring the forgotten remains of the military training camp which covered large areas of Ramsey from WW1 right up to the 1960’s. This walk will include the woodland paths surrounding Ramsey for an overview of where the army camped under extensive areas of canvas and therefore walking boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.
Sunday 10th October 10.30am: Tynwald Hill, The Royal Chapel and the Fair Field
You are invited to join MFCG member Jack Verity explain how the area may have been a place for societal gatherings long before the Vikings inaugurated the longest serving parliament in the world. This will be followed by an optional four mile walk in the Manx countryside. Again, walking boots or sturdy shoes are strongly recommended for those joining the optional walk.
