January 2021 Winter Talk

Our next talk entitled ‘The Life of Bryan’ by Nicky Bryan will take place on Wednesday 6th January at 7.30pm  at Mylchreest Court, Douglas Rd, Peel, IM51LD

The Life of Bryan.

This presentation is a mystery coach trip through the history of the Bryan family, and the Isle of Man, from the mid-1700s to the present day. It aims to be both humorous and informative.

Nicholas Edward Bryan, known as Nicky, is a Manx man from an exceptionally long line of ‘Manx movers and shifters’. He is an HGV driver, porter, director, and company secretary for Edward Bryan Removals Limited – a local domestic, European, and worldwide removals company and so very much more. From barrows to tea chests, charabancs to chandeliers, pantechnicons to Picasso’s…

Born in Douglas in 1948, Nicky now lives as far away as Onchan. His education began at Tynwald Street School and finished at St. Ninian’s, after which he started work ‘officially’, at the age of 15, in the family removals business where he still works today.

Nicky has seen, and heard first-hand from his grandfather and father, the huge economic and social changes that have taken place on the Island. And the changes to which his family and the company have had to continuously adapt to – all of which have required various forms of man and horsepower.

This looks a fabulous talk and entertaining evening, so pop the date into your diary now.
